Quote rule outcomes reference

A quick guide to every Quote Rule outcome — what each one does, grouped by policy enforcement and quote automation.

Every Quote Rule has exactly one outcome — the action it takes when its conditions match. This reference lists each outcome with a one-line description and a link to its how-to. Outcomes fall into two categories: those that enforce policy and those that automate quote building.

Which outcomes you can use depends on your plan. Most policy enforcement outcomes require Pro or Enterprise. Require Validation and all quote automation outcomes require Enterprise. Trial includes the full set.

These keep quotes within your rules by controlling whether and how a quote can proceed.

Outcome What it does
Block Stops the quote with a message to the rep. See Blocking a quote.
Notify Shows a message but lets the rep continue. See Showing a notification.
Require Approval Holds the quote in Pending approval until an approver signs off. See Requiring approval.
Require Validation (Enterprise) Holds the quote until an external validation workflow finishes. See Requiring validation and Setting up validation workflows.
Require e-signature Turns on e-signature and optionally names countersigners who must sign. See Setting up countersigners.
Set Price Book Selects the quote’s pricing context. See Setting a price book with a rule.
Prompt User Asks the rep to supply missing properties or files before continuing. See Prompting the rep for input.
Start Guided Selling Flow (Enterprise) Opens a Guided Selling flow when the rule triggers. At quote creation the flow is full screen with no Cancel; later in Quote Builder it opens as a modal. Also complimentary on Legacy Pro through November 1, 2026. See Using Guided Selling with Quote Rules.
