Updating bundle members automatically

Use the Update Bundle Members outcome to keep properties on bundle member line items in sync from the bundle header, a roll-up, a static value, or a formula.

This feature requires an Enterprise plan.

The Update Bundle Members outcome keeps properties on bundle member line items up to date automatically. Unlike Update Line Items, which can target any line item, this outcome always works through bundle headers: pick which headers are in scope, optionally narrow the members under those headers, then choose how each managed property is set.

For every property the rule manages, pick one method:

  • Copy from property → Bundle Header: each selected member mirrors a property on its own bundle header. When the header value changes, members follow.
  • Copy from property → Roll-up: members receive the roll-up value.
  • Set a static value: members receive a fixed value you specify.
  • Set with a formula: each member’s value is calculated by a formula you build inline, referencing its bundle header, deal, company, and roll-up properties. Works the same as formulas on the Update Line Items outcome: number and text target properties only (not dropdown properties), with optional two-decimal rounding for number results.

You can mark a managed property read-only so reps can’t change it in Quote Builder.

Quotivity always limits header selection to real bundle headers. You can add optional header criteria (for example, a specific SKU) or leave them empty to include every bundle header on the quote.

Under those headers, optional member criteria narrow which member rows update. Leave member criteria empty to update every member of the selected headers.

Update Bundle Members uses the same tracking behavior as Update Line Items. If a rep manually changes a managed value, the rule won’t overwrite that edit as long as the source value hasn’t changed. When the source does change, the rule re-syncs. If a member leaves scope, the rule releases it.

  1. Create a Quote Rule and set the conditions for when the rule should run. See Creating a Quote Rule.
  2. Choose the Update Bundle Members outcome. Select Update Bundle Members as the rule’s outcome.
  3. Set Bundle Header Selection Criteria. Leave them empty for all headers, or add conditions to target specific headers. Quotivity always applies the bundle-header check for you.
  4. Set Bundle Member Selection Criteria. Leave them empty for all members under the selected headers, or add conditions to narrow the members.
  5. Add a property to manage. For each one, choose copy from property (Bundle Header or Roll-up) or set a static value, then provide the source or value. Mark properties read-only when reps shouldn’t change them.
  6. Set it active and save. Matching quotes now keep the chosen bundle member properties in sync automatically.

Copy the bundle header’s description onto every support member: leave header criteria empty (or filter to that bundle’s SKU), add a member condition that the name contains “Support”, then copy description from the Bundle Header. As the header description changes, those members follow — unless a rep deliberately overrode a row.

  • Use this when the value should live on members but is authored on the header.
  • Prefer Update Line Items when you need to target non-bundle rows or copy from deal, quote, or other non-header sources.
  • Bundle expansion and add-on / swap outcomes run before member property updates, so members usually exist before this outcome writes them.
