Setting up automatic sales tax

Turn on automatic sales tax so the right tax is calculated on every quote, no manual line items needed.

This feature requires an Enterprise plan.

Overview

Automatic sales tax calculates tax on your quotes for you, so reps don’t have to add tax by hand or risk getting the rate wrong. Once you enable it in settings, tax is applied to quotes automatically as they’re built.

Prerequisites

An Admin role in Quotivity Studio

Steps

Open Settings → Taxes. From the Quotivity Studio sidebar, go to Settings and select Taxes.
Enable automatic sales tax. Turn on automatic sales tax.
Save. Save your changes.

Tax is now calculated automatically on your quotes, so the right amount appears without anyone adding it manually.

Tips

Pair automatic tax with quote rules if you need special handling — for example, flagging tax-exempt customers — alongside the standard calculation.
Review a test quote after enabling it to confirm tax appears the way you expect before reps start using it.
